Agronomist Engineer Department — Q Farm

The Quinta do Lago Group, is recruiting an Agronomist Engineer (M/F), to join the team at Q. Farm.

Q Farm is a planned process of development in which produce used in our restaurants is grown right here, at Quinta do Lago. Growing aromatic herbs and vegetables, Q Farm supplies daily fresh and organic produce to the restaurants here in Quinta do Lago. In fact, the farm has almost become an extension of the restaurant kitchen, with chef’s being able to request specific ingredients needed to make signature dishes. The seeds are planted in the greenhouse, grown in the farm, harvested in the morning and on the plate by lunchtime.

Degree in Agronomy or with  knowledge of Vegetables & Fruit Production

Drivers Licence

Previous experience in similar functions;

Ability to establish appropriate interpersonal contacts

High sense of responsibility, organisation and autonomy

Capacity for adaptation and polyvalence;

Proficient level of knowledge in reading, writing and speaking Portuguese and English

Make an annual plan of crop rotation for different vegetables and herbs across all farm areas according to seasonal demand.

Supervise and assist during planting, pruning and all operations related to soil improvement (use of rotavator, incorporation of peat, organic matter and fertilisers).

Supervise and assist on harvest periods to ensure quality, food safety and delivery times are met. Monitoring of pests and diseases and ensure best practices are applied in pest control.

Monitoring of plant growth and adjust fertilisation of different crops to their specific needs to ensure optimal productivity.

Promote chef’s interaction with Farm operations to ensure best use to all products.

Coordinate the daily activities of Farm staff, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget.

Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained and used effectively. Keep records and prepares reports.
