Quinta do Lago Joins GOLF's Top 100 Resorts in the World

Quinta do Lago makes its debut on GOLF’s prestigious global ranking, recognising a destination where championship golf meets exceptional hospitality, sport, wellness and lifestyle.

Recognition on a global stage is always significant. When that recognition comes from one of golf’s most respected voices, it carries particular weight.

Quinta do Lago has been named among GOLF’s Top 100 Resorts in the World for 2026, making its debut on one of the most recognised rankings in international golf travel. Published by GOLF.com, the list brings together leading golf resorts from around the world, looking beyond the courses themselves to consider the wider stay-and-play experience. For Quinta do Lago, the recognition reflects something that has long been central to the destination: exceptional golf is just the beginning.

Three Courses. One Destination.

Golf has been part of Quinta do Lago’s identity since the opening of the South Course in 1974. Today, the resort is home to three 18-hole championship courses, each offering a distinctly different experience.

The South Course has hosted the Portuguese Open eight times and remains one of the Algarve’s established championship layouts. The North Course, comprehensively redeveloped in 2014 in collaboration with renowned American architect Beau Welling and former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, brought a new dimension to the resort’s golf offering.

Then there is Laranjal, an 18-hole course shaped through a former orange grove, with tree-lined fairways and a character all of its own.
Together, the three courses offer variety, challenge and year-round play, supported by the Quinta do Lago Golf Academy and the TaylorMade Performance Centre, where technology, coaching and club fitting come together to help golfers take their game further. But the evolution of golf at Quinta do Lago has never been about standing still.

Beyond the Fairways

Today’s golf traveller is looking for more than a great round. They want somewhere they can stay, eat well, stay active, unwind and spend time together. That broader experience is at the heart of Quinta do Lago.

The Campus, the resort’s 48,000 sqm sports and wellness hub, brings together high-performance training, fitness, swimming, tennis, padel and cycling, creating an environment that extends the sporting experience well beyond the golf course.
Across the resort, hotels, villas and apartments provide a range of ways to stay, while 14 restaurants and bars offer everything from relaxed dining to more refined culinary experiences. And then there is the setting.

Set within 2,000 acres of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, Quinta do Lago combines golf with pine forests, golden dunes, nature trails and a Mediterranean climate that allows the game to be enjoyed throughout the year. Just 15 minutes from Faro Airport, it offers the rare combination of accessibility and space that has become central to the destination’s appeal.

A New Chapter in Global Golf Travel

The inclusion in GOLF’s Top 100 Resorts in the World comes at an important moment in Quinta do Lago’s international growth.
The resort is currently ranked No. 5 in the NCG Top 100 European Resorts, while it has also been named Europe’s Best Golf Venue at the World Golf Awards for three consecutive years, in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Now, recognition from GOLF.com brings Quinta do Lago into closer focus for an increasingly international audience, particularly in the United States, one of the world’s most influential golf travel markets. It also reflects more than five decades of continuous investment.

From course development and golf technology to hospitality, wellness, dining and sport, Quinta do Lago continues to evolve while remaining rooted in the landscape and character that have defined the destination since its creation.

As Sean Moriarty, CEO of Quinta do Lago, says:
“Quinta do Lago has always been about more than exceptional golf. It is about creating an environment where golf, hospitality, wellbeing, sport, dining and nature come together in a way that feels both considered and distinctive.”

Being named among GOLF’s Top 100 Resorts in the World is recognition of where Quinta do Lago stands today. More importantly, it reflects the ambition to keep moving forward.

Three championship courses. A complete resort experience. And a destination that continues to redefine what a golf escape can be.
